The Ryder Cup is taking place on Le Golf National in Paris, France from 28th to 30th September 2018. It should be an extremely exciting weekend full of action and drama. Team Europe and Team USA are both stocked to the brim with talent and either team could easily take the title. Captains Jim Furyk and Thomas Bjorn will have to strategically set up their teams for success and ensure that they have the right pairings of players that will play well together.
Ryder Cup United States
The United States is absolutely stacked to the brim with talent. They have three out of four of the top golfers in the world along with Phil Mickelson and the one and only Tiger Woods. They are a force to be reckoned with this year and Team Europe should be afraid of all the talent on this team. Six out of the last eight major golf championships were won by American golfers so recently team USA has shown that they can come up big in clutch moments.
Ryder Cup: Team USA
Team USA is also bringing back 6 players from 2014 which bodes well for them since they can bank on that experience to help them in the big moments. Team USA has an average win total of 22.4 while Europe only has an average of 12.7 which poses a big advantage for the Americans as they have more wins and more experience winning.
Ryder Cup: Team Europe
Team Europe has a lot of talent this year with players coming from all over Europe. But, there are five rookies on their team and history has shown us that the Ryder Cup is not kind to rookies. Team Europe had six rookies on their team in 2016 and they were soundly beaten by Team USA 11 to 17. Still, Team Europe has a lot of big names from former world number ones Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson to newcomers Thorbjorn Olesen and Tommy Fleetwood. They also have their Ryder Cup specialist Ian Poulter who has an incredible record of 12-4-1 in all of the Ryder Cups that he has played in. Team Europe is going to need all of their big players to have their A game if they want to overcome Team USA.
Team Europe has the home advantage which is a big factor for Europe because the Americans will be jet lagged and have the crowd rooting against them. Team USA has not won in Europe since 1993 and having the pressure put on them to defend their title could be a lot to handle in an extremely pro European city.
